Interactions with food

Although food can decrease its bioavailability, bacampicillin can be administered regardless of the timing of meals, with or without food.

Interference from other medications

Concurrent oral administration of ampicillin and chloroquine is not recommended, as chloroquine decreases the absorption of ampicillin. If the combined use of both drugs is necessary, the administration of ampicillin should be separated 2-3 hours from that of chloroquine. One option may be to change the antibiotic.

Concomitant administration of amoxicillin and tetracycline can inhibit the effect of penicillin . The administration of oral penicillins and tetracyclines should be separated by several hours.
