In the southeast is China . In the southwest of the country, the border with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is located in the west. Population

The population is multinational with 4,895.2 thousand inhabitants. Here live more than 90 nationalities and ethnographic groups. According to the 1999 registry data, 64.8% of the population were Kyrgyz, 13.8% – Uzbeks, 12.5% ​​- Russians, 1.1% – Ukrainians, 0.4% – Germans, 2.5% – other nationalities.

Language

The official language of Kyrgyzstan is Kyrgyz . In the Kyrgyz Republic they speak Russian too.

Symbols

National flag

The state flag of Kyrgyzstan features a red band, in the center of which is a round disk of the sun with forty golden rays. Inside the sun disk it represents a tunduk from the Kyrgyz yurt. The red flag symbolizes the courage and heroism, the Sun of gold reflects the peace and wealth , and tunduk – is a symbol of the paternal house. Forty rays joining in a circle signify the union of 40 ancient tribes to unique Kyrgyzstan. The tunduk symbolizes the unity of the peoples living in the country . The flag color red was the flag color of generous Manas.

Shield

In the shield the gyrfalcon of Manas is represented with outstretched wings that symbolize the freedom of the country. Also represented is the pearl of Kyrgyzstan – Issik-Kul Lake which is surrounded by high Ala-Too rock ranges. The sun-lit mountain peaks are a symbol of the sincere pride of the Kyrgyz people for the beauty of their homeland. By their shapes they resemble the white conical cap – Kyrgyz men’s national cap. It is confirmed: 14 of January of 1994 by Jogorku Kenesh decision.
