Biographical synthesis

He was born on 28 of maypole of 1968 , in Melbourne , Australia , in a family dedicated to the theater, which led him to participate in its infancy in several Australian television series.

Artistic career

His main work was in the series Neighbors , one of the most successful in that country. While working on this series, the opportunity arose to record a song “The Loco-Motion” for Mushroom Records . The result was so good that they released a single that went on sale and the song remained for seven weeks as number one on the Australian charts.

In 1987 , Kylie visited the famous British producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman , who placed the singer at number one on the British and half-world charts. A year later he left the series “Neighbors” to focus on music. The first UK single “I Should Be So Lucky” reached number one in early 1988 , heralding an impressive run on the British chart from the time of its release, numerous tracks at number one on the British charts.

His first album, entitled “Kylie”, managed to be the best-selling of 1988, debuting directly at number one in the United Kingdom and also achieving important records in other countries such as Germany , France , Australia or Spain . After this work a second album appeared, “Enjoy Yourself”, which also contained the main theme of the movie “The Delinquents”, in which Kylie Minogue herself participated.

In 1991 he adopted a sexier image, which earned him an even greater presence in the media. His third album, entitled “Rhythm Of Love”, is the fruit of this makeover. Kylie co-writes four of the ten songs that appear. In October of 1991 he embarks on a tour of the UK, making all concerts are cover of newspapers and magazines that country, all for a daring spectacle, an insinuating image mix Madonna and Liza Minelli and choreography provocative. Shortly afterwards he publishes “Greatest Hits” a double album that contains all his hits.

In 1997 he published the album “Kylie Minogue”, where Kylie wrote for the first time all the lyrics and collaborated in the composition of the music. Initially, this album was scheduled to appear under the title “Impossible Princess”, but it coincided with the death of Princess Lady Di , and to avoid accusations of opportunism it was decided to change the title of the album at the last minute.

In 1999 he signed a new deal with Parlophone Records and the following July returned to number 1 on the UK charts with the infectious dance track “Spinning Around”. Light Years saw Minogue firmly commit to disco pop music, a style in which he fits perfectly. So the Australian changed labels again, and this time she signed for Parlophone, the Pet Shop Boys label. That marked his resurgence as a pop star: in 2000 he released his new work, Light Years, which was a great critical and public success.

A year later, the phenomenon Minogue broke all the schemes with the release of “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, the first single from his new album, Fever. The song was number one in 21 countries, the album sold more than six million copies worldwide, and Kylie immediately ranked among the hottest stars on the music scene. He didn’t fare badly at the movies either, as he had a brief role in the acclaimed film Moulin Rouge.

Filmography

In 1989 Kylie starred in The Delinquents, the story of a young woman growing up in Australia in the late 1950s. The premiere coincided with her popularity on Neighbors and, despite mocking comments about the film and Minogue’s performance from critics, it was a box office success. She appeared as Cammy in the action movie Street Fighter: Ultimate Battle ( 1994 ) based on the fighting video game series of the same name (in fact, Cammy’s character is based on her) and where she was romantically linked to Belgian actor Jean Claude Van Damme, which she denied.

The film did not help his career and his performance received harsh criticism. Subsequent films like Bio-Dome ( 1996 ), Sample People and Cut (both from 2000 ) failed to attract audiences. Australian director Baz Luhrmann, impressed by his Intimate and Live tour, chose Kylie for the film Moulin Rouge (2001) where he played Absinthe, the Green Fairy, singing a line from The Sound of Music.
